- Doug McBee, current member and Past President of the Board
of Directors, received a statewide award for the 2008
Outstanding Board Member at the Alabama Council of Community
Mental Health Boards Annual Conference on May 15th. Mr. McBee
was honored for his extensive volunteerism in the community and
support of mental health services. Dick Coffey, past president,
was recognized as the outstanding board member at the annual
conference in 2004.
- At the 2007 Alabama Council annual conference, Gary
Stockdale, Intensive Treatment Director, received the annual
Clinician of the Year Award for his dedication and diligence in
providing mental health services for persons with a serious
mental illness.
- At its 2008 annual meeting, the Board presented Leadership
Awards to Dr. Jim Dill, President of the Alabama Council of
Community Mental Health Boards, and Dr. Richard Craig, Executive
Director of the Jefferson-Blount-St. Clair Mental Health/Mental
Retardation Authority.
- Beverly Francis, Executive Director, was elected President
of the Alabama Council of Community Mental Health Boards for
2009. The Council consists of 30 community mental health and
substance abuse agencies that provide and promote mental health
services in Alabama.
- Dr. Becky Greenway was promoted to Associate Director of
Eastside. Dr. Greenway is responsible for the comprehensive
clinical services and assists with the administration of the
center.
- Bob Sims, Business Manager, is overseeing the conversion of
the new LWSI management information system. Eastside is in the
process of converting to an electronic medical record for
consumers in June.
- The anticipation is building for twenty-three Day Treatment
consumers who will attend the annual Recovery Conference at
Shocco Springs in April.
- The Board generously contributed funds for the Recovery
Conference consumer registration fees, T-shirts and travel
snacks.
- In June 08, the Department of Mental Health recognized the
quality of Eastside’s services by granting a two year
certification for all programs. Twelve of the programs scored
100% and six scored 94% and above.
- Sheila Scott, Certified Peer Support Specialist, was hired
to assist consumers with their recovery goals. She provides
recovery groups for day treatment and outpatient consumers and
leads Eastside’s Consumer Council.
